Fueling the Fire with Mama Gas - This Past Weekend and Beyond

Sorry, It's been so long...been very busy.

It's been so long, that I’m not even able to remember where I left off, so I will recap the most recent weekend, and let you know about the things coming up.

This past week end we saw Trish back in her Sprint Car as she competed in the 2nd annual Knoxville 305 Nationals. On Thursday she was able to make the main event, but was only able to maintain her starting position of 14th. On Friday she had a great run in her heat race, but came across the scales to light and would have to start at the back of the B, but she was able to make the transfer and still had a 15th place finish in the A. Wasn’t what we were hoping for though, now she would have to start in the B in Saturday’s show, and once again she made the transfer to the A and collected a 17th place finish. Trish was disappointed in how the weekend went, and she expects way more out of herself than we do. We reminded her many times, that this was just her 2nd time in that car this year. She lacks seat time, and we think her motor may have had some issues. Trish is finding it hard to try to balance work, school and racing all at once. Saturday night we had some much needed extra help in our pits at Knoxville, special thanks to Mike and Craig, Thanks guys, we really appreciated it.

Jack was able to help us in Knoxville on Thursday and Friday, but we would see him depart early Saturday morning for his trip to Wichita, KS.

Jack would be driving Gary Swenson’s 24A car at an NCRA race at 81 Speedway in Wichita. Now I wasn’t there, so I don’t have a lot of details. He finished 2nd in his heat, started 4th row outside in the feature and was runner up in the race...again. He finished 2nd the weekend before at Park Jefferson Speedway also driving Gary’s car. Jack was really hoping he could pull off the win for Gary this year, but 2nd was all he could do. Jack was honored to drive for Gary and hopes he has the opportunity again.

Jack will return to his own car this coming weekend. We may venture up to Jackson, Minnesota on Saturday. We aren’t sure yet, but we may take Trish’s car to Jackson also if we can get the motor problem figured out, and if she is available to go.

After this weekend things will really heat up, as we will start our southern Tour as I will call it, with 3 week ends in Dallas and one week end in Little Rock. It will be good for Jack to get back and race with that crowd again, it has been a while.

I have to say, I don’t understand why more tracks don’t race during the month of September!  September has some of the best weather of the entire year, but yet it seems you have to really work to find somewhere to race and I know, they don’t want to bump heads with the football people, but I guess I have a hard time understanding this, as I’m definitely not a football fan.

Hopefully racing will survive what our economy is going through right now, I know a lot of people, as well as ourselves are feeling the impact of what is going on. I hope we all survive it, and the “Big Wigs” that caused the mess, get their just dues!!!!!

Again, sorry it has been so long, and now that we will be on the road a lot more, maybe I will have more time to keep everyone in the loop!

Thanks and we’ll see ya at the races!
